Even as a young kid I realized that, while the continent might be different, the language might be unfamiliar, the landscape remained constant. It too shifted though. The sun-soaked fields of north Africa, the dusty hills of Syria, the lush farmlands of Ohio… the sky was still above, the ground at my feet still life-giving. That connection and sense of peace is the inspiration behind this painting.
