Varnish & Margin
Add a beautiful fine-art quality to your canvas print
Why add a clear varnish to your prints?
The clear varnish adds a sheer paint stroke texture and will protect the print from damage and fading while giving it a truly fine-art feeling.
When to add a clear varnish to your prints?
I highly recommend this addition for larger prints and pieces that will be framed in a floater-frame as they will be more exposed than pieces behind glass — Plus they look so REAL with the varnish! Studio visitors frequently have a hard time believing that a varnished print is in fact NOT an original.
What is the margin for?
If you are planning to frame without glass in a floater frame like an original painting, you’ll need additional margin to stretch the canvas around stretcher bars. I recommend using a professional framer or framing service to stretch the artwork! Download the Framing Guide so you can frame your fresh artwork with confidence and elegance.
DETAILS
Fine Art Matte Varnish
UV protective finish
Brushed on in a sheer coat to add protection on canvas artwork. This is not to add built layers to the piece, but to add a gentle coat to protect the piece from moisture and fading.
Margin will standardly be 2 inches of white space around the artwork for ease of framing. If you need additional margin for stretching or framing in a floater frame, please make note of that at checkout.
The canvas print will arrive rolled, varnished, and with the extra white margin needed to stretch over a supportive frame.
The varnish takes added time to apply and dry. Please allow up to two weeks of processing time in studio.
